The Central Fisheries and Animal Welfare Department has directed all national parks and sanctuaries to be vigilant to prevent the spread of the infection. They have set up a special control room in Delhi.

Hundreds of birds have died in the last few days in Kerala, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The Pinarayi Vijayanagara government has issued a warning to two districts of Kerala declaring bird flu a 'disaster of the state'. Numerous bird deaths have also been reported in Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.


The sale of chickens and chicken eggs and fish has been banned in Himachal Pradesh's Kangra district to prevent infection. Kunjilal Mina, chief secretary of the state's livestock department, said multiple crows had died due to bird flu. Not only in Jhalawar but also in the adjoining Kota and Jodhpur districts such dead crows have been rescued.

Noting the huge bird deaths in Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Kerala, the central government has asked the states to take all possible steps to curb the spread of the disease.
